Specialising in golf psychology, Lyle is involved with a number of UK universities, colleges, and individual platers. As well as helping amateur golfers he has experience developing many tour professionals. His support includes:

ABOUT LYLE

Sport has always been a massive part of my life, my earliest memories as a child were always in a sporting context. From playing on the local field to competing in competitions I have always enjoyed the challenges that sport brings.

 

It was at the age of 17 whereby I got to experience psychology for the first time, and I have been fascinated ever since. At university I decided to combine my passion for sport with my interest in psychology and human behaviour. From there my motivation has only grown become more specialised.

As a Sport Psychologist in Training, I can provide the psychological support to teams and individuals across the UK and Worldwide.

 

I am privileged to have formed some fantastic partnerships with establishments such as Loughborough College, Staffordshire University, 3-Hammer Golf Complex and many more, as well as numerous individual clients in a variety of different sports. However, a lot of my work has been with Golfers from keen amateurs to touring professionals.

 

Psychology is for everyone and anyone who wants to improve and understand their mindset.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

One to one sessions

These can be conducted by in person and online via zoom/ facetime. The aim of these sessions are to build an understanding of your environment and understand how best I can support you. These sessions last around an hour.

Group workshops/ webinars

 

This is a good option for teams as it allows me to deliver the support to numerous individuals. Each workshop is carefully designed in line with your specific needs and wants from the support service. Groups can vary in size from 2-100 and can vary in duration length.

 

How can we help?

The game of golf takes on average 4 hours, however we are only playing for around 1 hour. This leaves 3 hours whereby we are not actually playing golf but instead we are probably thinking about it. Not all our thoughts are positive or helpful and my job is to help you explore and understand your thoughts in more detail and give you appropriate coping strategies and techniques to help you perform better on the golf course.

 

Here are some of the ways in which I can support you:

  • Dealing with nerves and anxiety (1st tee or in big competitions)

  • Improving Confidence (overall game or specific areas)

  • Staying focused for longer

  • Dealing with setbacks

  • Managing expectations

  • Goal setting and how to set them

  • Breathing techniques

  • Mindfulness

  • Imagery/self-talk

  • Pre-shot routines

And much more, because every individual is different it is difficult to condense the support I offer into a few areas. Not one client is the same therefore, there is not one technique that works for all. Through psychology you will learn to develop hybrid techniques which draw upon a variety of skills all of which are tailored to your needs.
