Golf Lessons in Shrewsbury & Telford: What Your First Lesson Looks Like
Booking a first golf lesson with a new coach can feel like a step into the unknown. What will we work on? Will it all be technical? Will you leave with something you can actually use?
This is exactly what happens in a first lesson with me in Shrewsbury or Telford, from the car park to the lesson video that arrives afterwards.
In short
- 60-minute one-to-one golf lessons with TrackMan 4, £85.
- Studios at Shrewsbury School Golf Studio and Chip Golf Studio, Telford, plus lessons on the course at Wrekin Golf Club.
- Golfers come from across Shropshire, including Shrewsbury, Telford, Wellington, Newport, Shifnal, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Oswestry and Market Drayton.
Where the golf lessons happen
Shrewsbury School Golf Studio. A private indoor studio with TrackMan 4, so the weather never cancels a lesson. Come in through the Port Hill Road gate. Parking is free, a few spaces opposite the cricket centre, about 50 yards from the door.
Chip Golf Studio, Telford. The same TrackMan technology, with parking right outside the front door. I reserve the bay before you arrive.
Wrekin Golf Club, Wellington. For what a studio can’t give you: 9-hole playing lessons on the course, plus short game, putting and bunker lessons. On a playing lesson I don’t play. I walk with you and record every shot.
Before you arrive
- Send me your handicap and your goal by message. Even a sentence helps me plan the hour.
- Bring your own clubs. Wear trainers or golf shoes, as long as they are clean.
- Wait by the main door. I’ll meet you there and take you through.
What happens in your first golf lesson
- We talk about your golf, not just your swing. How you score, where shots go and what you want from the game. That decides what we work on.
- We measure. TrackMan 4 records club and ball data while I film your swing. Before we change anything, we define the problem.
- We pick one change. Not a list of ten things. The smallest change with the biggest effect on your ball flight.
- We coach it. I start with the simplest way in, often a target or a task that lets you find it yourself. Drills and training aids if they help. Technical detail last, and only as much as you need.
- We check it worked. Your strike and ball flight should improve first. You don’t have to get worse before you get better.
- You leave with a plan. What to practise and how. Your lesson video follows within a couple of days.

|---|---|
| One-to-one golf lesson, 60 minutes | £85 |

Most golfers start with a single lesson. If you want the full picture first, the assessment spends 90 minutes finding where your shots are going and gives you a personal practice plan. Join a monthly plan within 14 days and £65 comes off your first month.
DO THIS
Before your lesson, write down your three most common bad shots and where they happen: off the tee, into the green, around it or on it. Send them with your handicap. It saves time and gets us straight to what matters.
After your first lesson
Improvement comes from what happens between lessons. On a monthly plan you get regular lessons, swing video reviews in between, messaging, and the members area with practice plans, Skills Games and stats. Many of my students stay with me for 18 months or more, because the plan keeps moving as their game does.
Frequently asked questions
Are golf lessons suitable for beginners? Yes. I coach golfers from beginners to single-figure players. For beginners we focus on contact and ball flight first, so golf feels good quickly.
Do I need my own clubs? Yes, please bring your own, so everything we work on carries straight onto the course.
How many lessons will I need? It depends on your goal, how often you practise and how you apply the changes. Strike and ball flight are the first things we look to improve, and a monthly plan keeps that going.
Is there parking at the studios? Yes. Free parking opposite the cricket centre at Shrewsbury School, and right outside the front door at Chip Golf Studio.
Where do golfers travel from? Across Shropshire, including Shrewsbury, Telford, Wellington, Newport, Shifnal, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, Oswestry and Market Drayton.
