• Move along the bunker if the sand is cut up. Do not improve the lie.
• A ball still in the sand scores whatever it takes to finish.

If you are using a launch monitor or radar

• A monitor cannot score this game and it cannot be run indoors. The score is shots to hole out.
• Its use is before the test: if it reports carry from sand, it will tell you how far a full bunker swing goes.

Retesting

• Warm up first — ten to fifteen balls with the club you will use. Same set-up, same ball, same conditions every retest. One run is a snapshot; two or three averaged is a standard.

Benchmark

• The benchmark is sand-save rate, confirmed in the reference data: out and holed in two. Scratch saves a little over a third; a 25 handicap one in ten — the widest ratio of any short-game measure. A ball still in the sand scores whatever it takes to finish. The score includes the putt, so it is read alongside the putting cards; the leave tally shows how much of it was the bunker shot.
