EVERY PART OF YOUR GAME, NOT JUST YOUR SWING
Steve Thomas
PGA Fellow Coach
Today's Golfer Top 50 since 2020
Coaching that improves your golf.
Most arrive knowing a swing fault. Few arrive knowing which part of their game is actually costing shots. That gap is where I’ve worked since 2011.

Where it started
I grew up in Shrewsbury and started behind the counter at the local golf range in 2005. Coaching was the part I kept volunteering for. There was no technology and no fast track, just a lot of hours on the range working out what actually helped people and what didn’t. I qualified as a PGA Professional in 2011 through the Foundation Degree at Birmingham.
Learning the job properly
Since then I have built an academy from scratch, run my own coaching business for over a decade, and led a team of eight coaches as Head of Coaching at one of the Midlands’ busiest academies. Around 15,000 golfers, from first lessons to professional players, have stood in front of me.
Away from the lesson tee
Away from the lesson tee, things are simpler. Most weekends you’ll find me and my wife outdoors with our two children, usually a National Trust estate with enough space for them to run. When I get the chance I climb, purely for the feeling of working something out and getting better at it. Much the same reason I’ve never got bored of coaching.
Where I am now
Today I coach online and in Shropshire. I write a monthly feature for Today’s Golfer and host the Divot performance podcast. Most of my week is still spent coaching either with players from all corners of the globe or standing next to a golfer in my TrackMan studios or on the golf course.
How I see improvement
An ethos that delivers better golf.
Four areas, not one.
Measured, not guessed.
Built with you.
You don't have to get worse to get better.
RECOGNISED FOR EXCELLENCE
Awards
Becoming an Advanced PGA Coach, then a PGA Fellow Coach, then a Today’s Golfer Top 50 UK Coach each changed how I see the game, and each showed me how much further there is to see. A qualification is a starting point, not a finish line. What matters is that the golfer in front of me gets a coach who is still asking questions, still measuring, still willing to be proved wrong by the data.

Qualifications
Every qualification I’ve earned has changed how I see the game, and shown me how much further there is to see. The day I stop learning is the day my players stop improving. So I keep studying, keep measuring, keep testing what I believe against what the ball actually does.

HOW I COACH
Every player I work with starts the same way: find out where the shots are actually going, pinpoint the one thing costing the most, then build a plan you can practise and prove. No guesswork, no tip of the week. Technique, skill, practice and course strategy, in the order that will help you most.
Modern Coaching Made Simple
I coach with TrackMan, HackMotion, 3D motion capture and high-speed video, but the technology isn’t the point. The point is that you stop guessing. Numbers tell us what your club and body are actually doing, we agree what needs to change, and the same numbers tell us later whether it worked. No opinions, no hoping.

Students with success.
Fantastic lesson with Steve at Shrewsbury School. He explained everything clearly, made a few simple changes to my swing and I could see an improvement almost straight away.

Really enjoyed my lesson with Steve at Shrewsbury School. Great facilities, clear coaching and plenty of useful feedback. I left the session feeling much more confident about my game.
